Biography

Dr. Iyer is board-certified with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

She completed her residency training in psychiatry in New York. She was selected as a Chief Resident during her final year of residency. She joined Albany Medical Center as faculty, where she worked as an assistant professor, clinical educator and member of the Student Psychological Services for students and residents in medical training. She also served on faculty at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

She works in a private practice in Frisco, Texas, where she is a therapist and psychiatrist to her outpatients. She works largely with women suffering from perinatal mental health difficulties.

Dr. Iyer is passionate about education of the public and of other healthcare professionals. When she is not seeing patients, she frequently authors articles on various topics, particularly on women’s mental health issues. She is a speaker on the topics of women’s advocacy, postpartum mental health (including at the Postpartum Support International’s 2017 annual conference) and physician wellness. She is writing her first book.
